
Wong Kai Hui (Khloe) is a Taipei-based journalist and producer whose work encompasses cross-border reporting, research, and other creative forms. Her core interests include gender and sexuality, decolonisation, and the intersections of technology and society.
She currently produces CONNECTED, a current-affairs talk show for TaiwanPlus, the English international channel under Taiwanese Public Television.
She holds a double major in Philosophy and Communication from National Chung Cheng University and a master’s degree in Inter-Asian Cultural Studies from National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan).
Her journalism career began at CivilMedia@TW, before she joined Malaysiakini, the leading independent media outlet in Malaysia. There, she covered major political developments and developed feature stories focused on gender, sexuality, the environment, labour, and cultural identity.
Her reporting has received significant recognition, including the Thomson Foundation Young Journalist Award. Additionally, a breaking-news collective project she contributed to earned the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) Award for Excellence in Reporting Breaking News. A COVID-19 tracker data journalism project she participated in was also shortlisted for the SOPA Award for Public Service Journalism and the Sigma Award.
Beyond the newsroom, Wong continues to work as an independent journalist and columnist. Her work has appeared in publications including the BBC, UDN Global (Taiwan), Linking Vision (Taiwan), Missing Perspectives (Australia), and Malaysiakini (Malaysia). She previously served as an editor for This Is Southeast Asia, where she helped establish the Malaysia and Singapore editions, supporting young writers to tell stories in their first language.
Outside of journalism, she enjoys exploring other creative forms. She has directed several short documentaries, written songs, and enjoys doodling.
